What Is SEO?
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization and is defined as “The process of improving the volume or quality of traffic to a web site or a web page (such as a blog) from search engines via unpaid or “natural” (organic or algorithmic) search results as opposed to other forms of search engine marketing (SEM) which may deal with paid inclusion.”
Initially, your website needs to be indexed by Google. That basically means that Google knows that your web site exists and indexes it in its database used for displaying search results. Google needs to know that your web site exists before it ever shows up in the search results. Once indexed, it is plugged into an algorithm (said to have over 200 variables) and your site’s web pages will be ranked accordingly.
We are often asked, “How are rankings determined?”, “Why does my site rank so poorly?” and “Why isn’t my site showing up in the search results?”.
